Importing the Rig

Before you import the rig, you need to choose to either Append or Link the rig. So what are the differences?

Appending works by making a copy of the rig from the source to the current blend file. While Linking works by creating a reference to the data in the source file. So if you make some modifications to the source file, the changes will be reflected in the referencing file.

And now, here's how to import the rig from the Asset Browser or use the manual method:

  • Open the Asset Browser in your Workspace.

  • Select your installed Asset Library.

  • Optionally, change the Import Method (Append, Link, or follow your asset library preferences).

  • Click and drag the rig into the viewport.

  • In the Operator panel, uncheck the Instance option.

Note that if you choose to Link the rig, you need to Library Override it to make it editable. To do that, select the linked collection in the outliner, right-click, and select Library Override -> Make -> Selected & Content.

Now, before using the rig, make sure that the Disable Me collection is excluded by unticking the Exclude from View Layer check box.
